|התוויות=ndicated for the management of serious manifestations of human immunodeficiency virus infections in patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome, or AIDS-related complex (ARC). Evidence of efficacy has been demonstrated in AIDS patients who have recovered from their first episode of pneumocystis carinii pneumonia within four months and ARC patients with multiple signs of HIV infection, including mucocutaneous candidiasis, weight loss (more than 10% or 14 pounds), lymphadenopathy and unexplained fever. Retrovir capsules are indicated for the management of certain patients with early human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) disease such as those with HIV-associated symptoms and/or other recognised prognostic markers of impending progression to advanced disease.
